About Lily Morgan Designs
Lily Morgan is a 14-year-old 8th grader at Convent Elementary in San Francisco with a passion for sewing that began when she was just five years old. Her journey started with creating her first stuffie, which ignited a love for sewing and design that has only grown over the years. By third grade, Lily had already launched her first business, sewing pillows to support a school fundraiser. Her work was so well-received that the school hired her to design and create pillows for their library, marking the beginning of her creative entrepreneurial path.
Since then, Lily has designed and sewn a variety of home goods, including robes, stuffed animals, pillows, handbags, napkins, and more. In 2023, she expanded her business into alterations, offering dress and pant alterations to clients in San Francisco, including uniform and formal dance alterations. Lily’s talent for sewing is matched only by her ability to use her skills to make a difference in the world.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lily took her passion for sewing to a whole new level. She was 10 years old at the time and recognized the critical need for face masks, she began making masks for teachers, healthcare workers, and friends. With limited resources, Lily creatively repurposed school uniforms and used any fabric she could find to create over 300 masks in just two months—April and May of 2020. Her initiative not only helped keep people safe during a challenging time but also showcased her resourcefulness and commitment to supporting her community.
Lily’s creative projects have included everything from sewing leg warmers for a first-grade soccer team to designing custom handbags, napkins, blankets, tablecloths, and even crafting headdresses and costumes. She has a sharp eye for recognizing ways to combine her love of sewing with meaningful causes. For example, Lily has dedicated time to Muttville, a senior dog rescue, where she volunteers and helps with adoption events. When she noticed that the rescue’s adoption events used worn-out yellow blankets for the dogs, Lily took action, creating and donating soft, durable blankets. She even raised funds by adjusting her prices, ensuring that each sale helped fund new blankets for Muttville.
Lily’s dedication to using her talents for good doesn’t stop there. She is also involved in the National Charity League, where she volunteers her time to assist others, demonstrating leadership, grace, and initiative. As she prepares to attend Convent High School in the fall, Lily continues to balance her love for sewing with her other interests, including golf, running, reading, and giving back to her community.
With a heart full of creativity and a drive to make a positive impact, Lily Morgan is a young entrepreneur and community leader with a bright future ahead.
